Pandemic Crisis and Financial Stability

Meanwhile, CIRSF is pleased to announce the publication by EBI of an EBOOK on the Covid-19 crisis and the finantial sector and the economic policy measures adopted by the EU (“Pandemic Crisis and Financial Stability”), in cooperation and with the active participation of CIRSF, namely through its coordinator (author of the chapter entitled “The EU fiscal response to the COVID-19 crisis and the banking sector: Risks and opportunities”). The publishers aim to launch a new edition of the EBOOK by the end of the current year, with updated chapters, taking into account the extremely dinamic and still uncertain situation we all face. The EBOOK is available on CIRSF's websiteUpdated versions of EBI Report on pandemic crisis-related economic policy and financial regulation measures are also available on our website, with hyperlinks to the text of the measures adopted at European level in this area (EBI Report to which CIRSF also contributed within the framework of our scientific partnership).

CIRSF – Centro de Investigação em Regulação e Supervisão do Sector Financeiro, with the Programme JEAN MONNET, in cooperation with its national scientific partners and its main international partner, the European Banking Institute, of Frankfurt (EBI - https://ebi-europa.eu), would like to announce the postponing of our usual Summer Anual Conference, due to the exceptional context created by the pandemic of Covid-19. The institutional and scientific relevance of the speakers, for us organizers, justifies the maintenance of the physical attendance model (instead of an online or webinar model).

Therefore, the Conference, which title was “The European framework of the financial supervision – What to expect of the Banking Union and a renewed Capital Markets Union in the context of the Covid-19 crisis?” will take place in the last quarter of 2020hoping that the safety conditions are met and will allow it. The following speakers are already confirmed, the Vice-President of the European Central Bank, Luis de Guindos, and members of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) and of the three European Financial Supervision Authorities (EBA, ESMA and EIOPA). CIRSF and its national and International Partners will comunicate the exact date of the anual Conference and its programme.

This way, we hope to contribute, in this difficult context, to an adequate information on the developments of this very important sector for our near future and also
to a critical discussion of the evolution of the European policies in this sector, which will have a significant impact on the key public policies in Portugal.
