In the wake of the Covid-19 crisis now combined with an energy and geopolitical crisis (the war in Ukraine) and a spiral of inflationary tensions leading to a major turn of monetary policy, which is bound to have major effects on sovereign debt markets, in particular in low income countries, we purport to critically discuss major problems ahead in the functioning of these markets from an economic and legal point of view.

As regards the Euro Area we will also explore the critical crosscurrents between sovereign debt markets and the banking sector in the context of the evolving monetary policy of the ECB and the relevance of these issues to the building of the Banking Union.

The Panel discussion comprised an outstanding group of experts, made possible through the joint efforts and cooperation of the organizing entities (CIRSF, Mocomila, the Sovereign Debt Forum and CCLS, Queen Mary University of London).
